Pedro Alvarenga comes from a lineage of filmmakers: in the 1960s, his grandfather ran a film development lab in Rio de Janeiro, passing down a love for cinema that skipped no generations. By age 18, Pedro was already creating short films and forming a creative partnership with Fran, leader of the band Gilsons and grandson of Brazilian music legend Gilberto Gil.
Today, Pedro is a director celebrated for his raw, emotional, and cinematic approach often infused with humor with a “carioca” twist. His work spans music videos, commercials, and branded content, including standout projects for Nestlé and Brahma, one of Brazil’s largest beer brands. His films are visceral and authentic, earning awards from the MVF, BamvFest and Vimeo Staff Picks.
